AirNet Communications Awarded $4.2 Million Order by
MELBOURNE, FL/MUENSTER, TX – Choice Wireless, LC, a wireless service provider, has awarded AirNet® Communications Corporation (NASDAQ: ANCC) a $4.2 million order to expand its PCS service to customers in rural Texas and Oklahoma.
As part of the new order, Choice will purchase additional AirNet broadband, software-defined AdaptaCell Base Stations and AirSite® Backhaul Free Base Stations for its existing wireless network bringing more GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) coverage to Choice Wireless.
"AirNet's GSM infrastructure solution more than doubles our cost-savings as we expand our network," stated Mike Clough, CEO of Quantum Communication Group, Inc., managing agent for Choice. "In addition, AirNet gives us a broadband, software-defined solution that is easily upgraded to support future wireless Internet services."
This order expands an agreement the companies have previously signed, which brings wireless service via AirNet's GSM infrastructure to four of Choice's Basic Trading Areas (BTAs): Ardmore and Lawton, Oklahoma; and Wichita Falls and Sherman-Denison, Texas. To date, Choice and its partners have purchased more than $12 million in GSM infrastructure from AirNet.
"Wireless operators, like Choice, have started to plan for the evolution to high-speed wireless data," said Lee Hamilton, president and CEO of AirNet. "The continued deployment of AirNet's broadband, software-defined solution illustrates the benefit of our products for operators planning to migrate to the wireless Internet."
"This new order reflects the operators strong demand for cost-effective, GSM products to support their coverage demands," said Glenn Ehley, senior vice president of worldwide sales and marketing at AirNet. "By deploying our AirSite backhaul-free product, Choice eliminates the need for a T-1 backhaul link, thus benefiting from a substantial annual savings."
AirNet Communications Corporation's award winning wireless base station products, based on over 60 patents either issued or filed, provide a cost-effective, future proof solution for wireless operators as they deploy and expand their networks.
