AirNet Communications Customers Continue to Grow
Epic Touch & WestLink Communications Order Additional Equipment

MELBOURNE, FL, October 31, 2001 - AirNet® Communications Corporation (NASDAQ: ANCC), the technology leader in base station products for wireless communications, announced it received follow-on orders from both Epic Touch and WestLink Communications for additional base station equipment. Together, these orders account for $600K of the approximately $7.5M in new purchase orders announced within the last three weeks.

The latest Epic Touch order will enable the independent telephone company to offer service to additional areas in its Midwest region via AirNet's AdaptaCell™ broadband, software-defined Base Stations and AirSite® Backhaul Free Base Stations.

"AirNet systems have been providing high quality and reliable service," said Bob Boaldin, president of Epic Touch. "AirNet's GSM infrastructure solution cuts our operational expenditures by more than half as we expand our network. Moreover, AirNet is the only vendor that furnishes us with a broadband, software-defined radio solution that is easily upgraded to support wireless data services."

WestLink Communications' newly purchased GSM equipment will be utilized in their Kansas network to enhance service in their core markets: "We continue to enjoy our relationship with AirNet," said Bill Hayden, general manager of WestLink Communications. "AirNet's Backhaul Free base stations allow us to serve areas that simply could not be justified economically with any other system, allowing us to expand the area we can serve. This approach adds a dimension to our business plan that gives us a strong competitive advantage."

The AirNet base station is a broadband, software-defined radio solution that allows wireless operators to easily migrate to GPRS and EDGE on their existing AirNet base stations by simply upgrading software. The upgrade can be performed remotely from a network control center, dramatically reducing the cost and time of deploying the solution to every cell site.

"The AirSite Backhaul Free solution has played an important role in our customers' business plans," said Glenn Ehley, president and CEO, AirNet Communications. "In addition, AirNet's software-defined radio technology is designed to keep them profitable in the long run by limiting the costs associated with migrating to GPRS and EDGE."
